Quick-look Review: X-Lite

As you may know, there are many SIP clients on the market. We are currently using the X-Lite SIP client for Mac (by CounterPath). It installs easily and works.

To connect it to our Asterisk PBX, you simply enter the Username, Password and IP address and there you go.

There are more than ample settings to choose devices, mics and speakers for the soft phone.

One down side is that the free version does not have Call Transfer.

CONCLUSION

It is solid, simple and effective. I like it.

Posted on 15-07-2010 by Peet de Vos The one thing that limits X-Lite (the free version) is of coarse that it doesn't have the G.729a codec - figures.
